WHERE TRADITIONAL HEARING PROTECTION FAILS
Improper Fit
One size fits all is not practical when every ear is different. Effective Hearing Protection requires an acoustic seal. Without it harmful noise will make it through to your ear drum. If ear plugs are not inserted absolutely correctly acoustic seal may not be present. If Ear muffs are worn with eyewear or not tight enough the acoustic seal may not be present.
Lack of Comfort
Most people report their hearing protection to be uncomfortable. Foam plugs and Plastic/silicone preformed plugs cause irritations because they are putting small amounts of pressure on the inside of the ear canal. Ear Muffs press on your head and are commonly hot and sweaty.
Do they work?
What protection level does a hearing protector provide? Is it enough? Is it too much? Is it fitted properly? Without the ability to measure the protection level it's all guesswork. Do you really want to risk your hearing and maybe your life on guess work?
Need to communicate and hear warnings
Over protection is as major an issue as under protection. Not being able to hear warning signals risks injury. Removing a hearing protector for even a few minutes to communicate can risk hearing loss.
Lack of Hygiene
Because a foam plug needs to be squeezed and rolled into the ear canal the risk of transferring germs and dirt into the ear is high. Ear Muffs can create the perfect environment for bacteria the breed if not kept clean.
