A Total Hearing Conservation Program consists of the following five steps. |
|

|
1. Education Formalised training in regard to noise exposure, it's results, causes and remedies . A carefully planned and managed program tailored to the individual or the job role. This includes creation of materials that can be used by OH&S coordinators and small businesses to educate staff on noise.
2. Audiometry Scientific measurement of a persons hearing ability. Regular assessment using sophisticated instruments and Aust standards procedures to measure hearing ability across all octave bands of human hearing.
3. Sound Measurement Scientific measurement of environmental noise and individuals exposure to noise. Regular assessment using sophisticated instruments and Aust standards procedures to measure noise exposure of people in their work place.
4. Noise Consultancy Design of remedies for limiting noise exposure where practical. A specialised field where highly trained personnel used sanctioned engineering practices to lower noise exposure levels for workers in the workplace.
5. Personal Protection Provision of person protection equipment to safeguard individuals from noise. This has previously been the missing link in an absolutely quantifiable and complete methodology for a total Hearing Conservation Program. Until the Sonomax SolutionTM this stage could not be completed with a quantifiable hearing protector aligned with the measurments from steps 2 -4. The best on offer was a guess at protection level. With the quantifiable, proven methodology behind the fitting, testing and adjusting of the Sonomax Solution a COMPLETE Hearing Conservation program is now available.
